Best Family Motorhome

Further award success adds to Bailey of Bristol's growing reputation in the motorhome market

Bailey of Bristol has added to its growing reputation in the motorhome market with the receipt of another top industry award. This time it was the company's six-berth Approach SE 760 model which took the plaudits from Practical Motorhome Magazine as it claimed their Best Family Motorhome 2012 prize.

Commenting on the Approach SE 760 Practical Motorhome said:

"This Brit-built newcomer has stormed the motorhome market with its combination of roomy interior, superb manufactured quality and focus on passenger safety"

"This really is an impressive family motorhome" they added.

Bailey Approach SE 740 and SE 745 were also shortlisted in the 'Best Coachbuilt for Two' and 'Best Coachbuilt for Four' categories respectively in the same competition highlight the all round appeal of the company's debut motorhome range. When combined with the results of the recent Caravan Club Motor Caravan Design and Drive Competition 2012 in which the SE 625 and SE 745 both received recognition, with the latter being declared the Overall Winner, this means that four out of five of models in the range have now received prestigious third-party endorsements from leading industry sources.

Award success has been mirrored by retail sales success on Retailer forecourts over the past twelve months and as a result the existing Approach SE range will enter the 2013 model year unchanged. This is in-line with established Bailey product development policy where instead of changing ranges on a fixed date every twelve months the company is more customer lead undertaking a product re-design only when the market decides it is necessary.

The great news for potential customers is that also means that OTR prices for Approach SE models are currently being held at 2012 levels - meaning a new Bailey motorhome looks even better value in today's market place.

Based on Peugeot's Euro 5 Boxer cab the new Bailey Approach SE range is designed to be driven with all models featuring a 2.2 Hdi 130 bhp engine complete with a 6-speed manual gearbox, an AL-KO AMC chassis and the Alu-Tech bodyshell as standard specification. This combines with beautifully-styled British interiors, which provide comfort and practicality in equal measure, and a level of specification not normally found on vehicles in this price bracket to make the new Approach SE the complete motorhome range.

Safety considerations are of paramount importance in any new motorhome and Bailey has given a great deal of thought to this aspect of product design. As a result key features, such as an ABS braking system plus driver and passenger airbags are specified as standard in the cab and three-point seatbelts are fitted to all dedicated rear passengers seats. In an Industry first Bailey has taken this thought process to the next stage by investigating the strength of the caravan habitation area in simulated crash tests using the facilities at the internationally renowned Millbrook Proving Ground.
Throughout the testing the high performance Alu-Tech bodyshell stood up well to the examination and required very little in the way of modification. However, following the results of the initial trails, Bailey did make changes to the design of both the caravan floor and furniture, including a dedicated stowage location for wall-mounted tables whilst in transit, to enhance passenger protection.

Bailey would also like to thank Practical Motorhome Magazine for running this annual competition, particularly in light of the amount of organisation required, and is very grateful for any recognition received for its motorhome and caravan ranges.
